After the Volvo dealer in Bellingham closed, I was pleased to find that Master Auto Tech listed Volvo among the brands they serviced and repaired. Living 25 mls. N in Semiahmoo, and it being during the Covid Pandemic, I needed to arrange an oil change and inspection where there was a trusty mechanic familiar with European cars, and an open waiting area. Happily Master Auto Tech had both, (the wait area with comfortable seats including capsule coffee maker or water). Thus 2 days after calling for an appointment I arrived to find a modern establishment run by a European car expert, who added the good news that he had hired a Volvo technician from the dealer before it closed. After an hour sitting in the waiting area next to the 3 service bays, I left with my Volvo having the manufacturer recommended oil and filter installed, all normal areas and fluids checked, and a report that I should check my service records once home but probably a brake fluid replacement was due, according to the Volvo schedule - (that turned out to be correct). We had discussed other items possibly needed (air and cabin filters) but these I knew were still "within recommended intervals". The actual labor cost for the oil change and other top-ups and inspections was definitely not "padded", quite the reverse, with the bulk of the cost being for the high quality synthetic oil and correct filter. All was as courteous, professional and efficient as at the authorized dealerships I have used until now, and I would recommend any Volvo owner who otherwise will not find a dealer in the USA closer than the Seattle area, to check out Master Auto Tech. Very easy to access just off I-5, in the direction of Bellingham Airport.
